地球温暖化防止に向けて

自然と共に生きる。

   地球の温暖化が今ほど騒がれていない20年程前、富士山から東北の十和田・奥入瀬まで、1ヶ月かけて海沿いを描きながら旅した事があります。9月の中頃に富士を出発し、10月中頃に奥入瀬に着く予定でありました。その時の紅葉が、みずみずしいはずであったのが、陽の良く当たる所の葉っぱの一部が茶褐色になってかれているのが所々あり、全体の景色を弱めている事に気付き、温暖化の影響かと感じたものでした。家に帰っても、犬の散歩の途中、夏ですが、公園の木葉が緑のまま枯れ落ちていたり、草が枯れたりと、真夏の中国を想いだしました。大陸的な気候になってきていると。日本の夏は公園とはいえ、蒸し蒸しとして雑草が生い茂り、決して枯れる事はありません。
自然の小さな囁きがきっかけで、『四季の国・日本』を描くことになりました。
日本を描くとしたら「日本の四季」しかない。美しい日本の四季の移り変わりを描こうと、10年前に描いたユーラシア大陸（全長100メートル）に続ける構想になり、発表も何も考えずに描いて7年、愛知万博への出品の話が持ち上がり、『自然との共生』の理念と合致して、名古屋駅に近いほうが良いと、入場も無料のささしまサテライト会場で6ヶ月間展示することが出来、多くの方に感動したと反響を頂きました。本当は題名を『美しい国・日本』としたかったのですが、自分で描いて美しいと名付けるのもてらいがあり、『四季の国・日本』としました。日本各地を10年かけて四季折々に取材し、7年かけて描いた長さが170メートルになり、自分でも苦業に驚きました。
自然との共生の愛・地球博は終わりましたが、私にとっての自然との共生はほんの第一歩であり、自然元年と名付けました。

For prevention of global warming

Live with nature
I have gone on a trip while to picture the seashore from Mt. Fuji to Lake Towada and Oirase mountain stream in Tohoku region for one month around 20 years ago when it was not made noise about global warming. I left Fuji in the middle part of September and arrived at Oirase mountain stream in the middle part in October. When I saw the autumn leaves, I noticed the part of the leaves of a sunny place should had been fresh was in dark brown and that weakened total scenery. I felt that was influence of the global warming. After I returned to the home, I noticed that the leaves in the park died as green and glasses died in the middle of a walking with dog. That remembered me China in summer because it liked continental climate. Summer in Japan is humid and sticky, so weeds grow thick despite a park, and they never dies. The natural small whisper was an opportunity painting "Country of the four seasons, Japan".

If I paint Japan, it must be only "Japanese four seasons". To paint beautiful Japanese seasonal changes, I planed the expansion of the picture,” the Eurasian Continent (full length 100m) “, drew ten years ago. After beginning to paint it; seven years later, there was an opportunity to exhibit it for World Exposition Aichi. I agreed the conception "live with nature", exhibited it for six months and had a reaction when impressed by many people. First I assumed the title "beautiful country, Japan", but there was an affectation what I pictured is beautiful, and named it "Country of the four seasons, Japan" at last. I took all parts of Japan and saw four seasons for ten years, painted a picture, length 170m, for seven years. Even oneself was surprised at the hardship.

World Exposition Aichi that featured the theme of symbiosis with nature was over but it was just the first step of the symbiosis with nature for me, I named this age "the nature first year".
